Weaving
The art of weaving is important to Fijian culture as this skill is utilised to create baskets, mats, and bags. Resources used for weaving traditionally come from the Coconut or Pandanus leaves. You will have an opportunity to see how these goods are made, or how to make some yourself.

Snorkeling
Fiji is home to some of the world’s most magnificent coral reefs. Take the amazing opportunity with ‘Lawaki Beach House’ to snorkel the fringing Locally Managed Maine Area, and discover the beautiful sea life and corals Beqa Island has to offer.

Hiking
If the outdoors are your forte, Beqa’s villages have a variety of tracks, hills, and mountains for you to conquer. Guides are required for hikes around the village, with the local community eager to show you around your new home.

Sport
Each village has a range of sports (rugby, soccer, football) you can take part in, especially with the local youth. The locals will welcome you, join in, and show the rules, but be warned they are very competitive!

Farming
The village relies on farming the land (and the waters) for a large portion of their food; any excess is sold in local markets on the mainland. Plants include cassava, dalo, kava, chillies, coconut, eggplant, pineapples, and mangoes. Learn how they plant, nurture, and harvest these different crops in demonstrations or practically at your homestay.

Fishing
There is no better way to explore the waters of Fiji than to catch your own dinner with a local expert. Many Fijians are great fishermen and would love to teach you their unique skills. Snapper, parrotfish and grouper are common.

Cooking
Learn how to prepare traditional Fijian meals with fresh ingredients harvested from the farms or fish you caught.

Picnic
Enjoy a delicious selection of Fijian foods through a picnic style lunch by the sea. Allow yourself to get to know the locals and the chance to bond through storytelling.

Crab racing
Pick your lucky winning hermit crab, and watch it compete against others hermit crabs chosen by your opponents. Crabs start in the centre of a wide circle in a coconut cup, and with a 1 2 3! watch as they run for the finish line which is the boundary of the circle
